Current Status and Issues
VAD (vascular access device) management in Japan has not yet caught up with global standards and is still in the process of development. One of the reasons for this is the lack of quality and quantity of VAD-related research originating in Japan. International findings alone are not convincing enough to change the behavior of healthcare professionals because they are not supported by data from their own countries.
Importance of in-country research
Therefore, in order to bring Japanese VAD management closer to the global standard, it is essential to first accumulate knowledge originating in Japan. At present, however, VAD-related research is not flourishing, and healthcare professionals who are aware of the problem are working on it individually. Even worldwide, it is difficult to change the behavior of healthcare professionals through individual research alone, and better research results can be expected through discussions among many researchers who share the same awareness of the problem.
Research Platforms and the Need for Young Researchers
Therefore, there is an urgent need to create a platform for discussing VAD-related research, and it is essential to train young researchers for future development.
Formation of international networks
Furthermore, in order to bring Japan's VAD management closer to the global standard, it is important to form a new international network. Through this network, we can identify shortcomings in Japan's VAD management and find the direction in which we should move in the future. In addition, if the CIPP becomes the center of an international network in Japan, it will be possible to participate in international joint research, thereby contributing to improving the level of VAD management in Japan. Currently, however, Japan is isolated from the global network, and there is no organization in Japan that can serve as a hub for the international network. Therefore, there is an urgent need to establish a domestic organization that can serve as the center of an international network.
