Peripheral intravenous cannula insertion (PIVC) is a frequently performed procedure in the emergency department, yet the failure rate for first attempts in adults is known to be up to 40% and 65% in children. Today, we present a systematic review and meta-analysis study examining the effectiveness of ultrasound-guided peripheral venous cannula insertion (USG-PIVC) when performed by emergency nurses.
