Do you know the SIP protocol?

The SIP protocol is an evidence-based standardized procedure to systematically reduce complications that can occur during PICC insertion, such as thrombosis, infection, dislodgement, malposition, and nerve damage. 2014 version was used as a foundation and has been updated to reflect recent findings, including ultrasound evaluation (RaPeVA), exit zoning (ZIM), IC-ECG tip position confirmation, subcutaneous anchor fixation, and cyanoacrylate use.

This paper briefly describes the "eight strategies" proposed by the revised SIP protocol and provides key points for field implementation. It is useful for education and training as a practical bundle that reduces both complications and costs by reducing procedural variability.
